Annapurna Stotram: Lyrics and Meaning

Annapurna stotram is a divine hymn composed by Guru Adishankara Charya in praise of Goddess Annapurneshwari, the bestower of food and prosperity and the consort of God Shiva.

The lyrics and the meaning of this Annapurna Stotram is beautifully composed starting from ‘Nithyanandakari’ stanza till the end, explaining several divine qualities of the Goddess and her other names, how she takes care of her devotees and so on.

The main motive of reciting this hymn is to request the goddess Annapurneshwari to provide food, wealth, prosperity, and wisdom in our lives and to the world. Which can be understood by reading the fourth line of stanza ‘Bhiksham dehi krupavalambanakari Mata Annapurneshwari’

Although several refer to this stotram as Annapurna Ashtakam, it is actually not an ashtakam because an ashtakam only contains 8 stanzas along with a phalastuti or some ending lines. But here in this stotram it contains more than it.
